Informant James Henry, nephew, [s. of James Hendry & Christian Hutchison]
living at Marefield, Midstocket, Abdn. (a) |
James Hutchison, in his will, made his
son Alexander, Executor. He left Alexander the lease of his farm and all
stock and other means and property. This included the debt of £140.00 due
to him by son William, and debt of £50.00 due to him by son George.
He left £120.00 to son, James in New Zealand. He also left £40.00 to
daughters Elspet, Mary, Christian, Ann and Barbara. This he considered to
be their full share with the sums already given to them or their
husbands. William and George were consider to have already received more
than their shares of his estate.
By the time of James's death George's debt
had risen to £110.00 but £60.00 was disputed and £50.00 was accepted by
the Executor. William was declared to be without means and the debt of
£140.00 was abandoned as irrecoverable. Judging by the amount left by
James I doubt if anyone received their inheritances except Alexander who
received the lease on the farm etc.
